The Story of Ka Hei

 

今年19歲的蔡嘉熙(阿拉),自小就有很多想做的事情。他喜歡表演、跳舞、唱歌、戲劇活動,甚至於小時候也拍過廣告。阿拉於小學階段因參加香港機械人學院的課程,而對機械知識產生濃厚的興趣。然而,即使他有無盡的創新想法,但礙於家庭經濟條件,他不能繼續發展科技興趣。即使於中學時期,校內設有相類似的機械人課程,但這些機會一般都只給予班內名列前茅的一群,成績不算突出的他只能羨慕同學可以按興趣學習製作機械人,持續發展個人的興趣。

阿拉未能於機械科技上獲得持續發展的機會,轉而考慮成為演藝人員,但擔心前途及沒有穩定收入,最終放棄這個選擇。他完成DSE課程後,選擇前往台灣就讀醫務管理,卻發現此科目偏重於管理知識,如人力資源管理和藥物採購等,而不是他想像中能學習到的實務知識,所以決定於去年停學回港。在社工的介紹下,他參加「賽馬會鼓掌.創你程計劃」香港青少年服務處生涯規劃服務隊(新界東)所舉辦的多元演藝潛能探索班組活動,如玩出「伙」2《無可取代的美麗》舞台劇的舞者、配音班、工作體驗計劃等,讓他有機會重燃個人對發掘演藝興趣的動力,啟發他探索個人才能與尋覓個人路向。

即使別人認為他人生曾走錯了路,但參加這麼多潛能探索活動後,阿拉發現每人所走的道路不一樣,DSE什麼成績不是最重要,讀不到書不一定沒有出路,有很多才能只是未被發掘而已。

 

Ka Hei, a 19-year-old youth, has longed for achieving different things since he was small. He is fond of performing, dancing, singing, and acting. When he was small, he had even participated in the filming of commercials. He had joined the course organised by the Robot Institute of Hong Kong and it had aroused his curiosity in probing deep into the subject of mechanics. Despite having unlimited imagination and ideas, Ka Hei cannot continue pursuing in the field of technology due to family’s financial situation. Course of similar nature was also available in his high school, but it was merely reserved for the top-performing students. While his academic results at that time did not allow giving him the opportunity, he wished that he could develop his interests as his classmates did.

Ka Hei thought of being an artist before, but was worried about having unclear prospect and unstable income at the same time. After finishing HKDSE, he went to Taiwan for studying a programme in medical management but finally found it mainly focusing on human resources management and medical procurement, which was far beyond his expectation. He then came back to Hong Kong and started joining the activities organised by the DST of HKCYS. The activities that he had joined include drama acting, dubbing, and work exposure programme, which have rekindled his motivation in the exploration of performing arts, as well as motivated him to map out his own pathway.

Having joined different talent-exploration activities, Ka Hei realises that public examination is not the most important thing in life. Youth, including him, has a lot of potential which has not been uncovered yet.
